East Sandy Happenings – 1/24/25

Dear East Sandy Families,
Thank you for helping us keep your children warm during this cold week.  Check the lost and found if your child is missing a coat or articles of clothing.  Special thank you to our PTA and the great work with RED RIBBON WEEK.  This really built empowerment and promote conversations to make good choices.

Digital Citizenship: Use these tech planners to help your kids manage their screen time and think through important questions with tech use: What will I do? How much time will I spend? How will we be kind and inclusive with technology? Am I making thoughtful choices? https://tinyurl.com/csdtechplanLinks to an external site.

Teacher of The Year: We are accepting nominations for teacher of the year.  Each school highlights an exceptional educator. Those individuals then go on to be nominated for district and state level awards.  If you feel your child’s teachers has been exceptional this year, please go to this address and nominate them.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING US CELEBRATE RED RIBBON WEEK!
We loved seeing our East Sandy community come together for Donuts with Grownups today to wrap up Red Ribbon Week!  Thank you to everyone for your participation, we hope you found the information and resources helpful to navigate conversations that help keep kids substance-free.  This week PTA shared 4 preventative methods that are proven by science to yield positive results to keep kids drug and alcohol free. These are:

  1. Personal Development & Resilience – personal development starts with accepting yourself and being comfortable standing up for your beliefs, this includes making healthy choices and being resilient to peer pressure.
  2. Community Connection – it’s important students feel a sense of belonging and by helping ensure a safe environment, positive adult role models and the opportunity to build friendships at school we aim for a school community that provides social connectedness and support for all children.
  3. Healthy Relationships – healthy relationships are important for both mental and physical health and by fostering a positive school community and helping students identify what contributes to a healthy relationship – which is honesty, effective communication, respect, trust, understanding, and problem solving we can help guide them to make better friendships and relationships in their lives.
  4. Family Bonding – strong family bonds begin with having conversations together and finding opportunities to discuss the values and expectations each family has set based on their beliefs. Every student received “chit-chat” cards provided by Parents Empowered to help get the conversation started!

We hope everyone had a positive experience with the Red Ribbon Week activities!  You are always welcome to share feedback, questions or get more involved just email eastsandypta@gmail.com 🙂
