Dr. Wilkinson will be moving on to a new adventure next year. We appreciate all she has done for East Sandy and wish her luck at her new school! We are excited to welcome our new principal, Mr. Rudes! Here is a message from him:
Hello, my name is Bryan Rudes and I am so excited to be joining the East Sandy Elementary community as the principal this fall. I am honored to become a Mustang, and I look forward to supporting the students and staff. As a Sandy resident myself, I truly value the opportunity to work within my own community. Prior to my position as an assistant principal at Midvale Middle School, I taught in both middle and high school classrooms and enjoyed mentoring a wide variety of students. My years working with children have shown me the importance of strong relationships and high expectations, and their direct effect on student success.
I grew up in upstate New York, and was raised with a great respect for public education and the doors that it can open in a child’s future. In supporting our district’s mission to ensure that all students are college and career ready, I am looking forward to the opportunity to prepare our students with the tools they need to be successful in middle school, high school, and beyond.
My wife, Nicole, is also a teacher in Canyons School District. Conversations surrounding education are common around our dinner table. Together, we enjoy taking our two-year-old son outdoors to experience all the beauty this great state has to offer. We love hiking, camping, fishing, and skiing; we are so happy to call this valley our home.
It is easy to see the wonderful school culture that has already been cultivated at East Sandy, and I can’t wait to become a part of it. I have great respect for Dr. Wilkinson and the work she has done here. I am excited to continue building a plan for success and a vision for our future. Here’s to another great year – go Mustangs!
