October Wellness Word of the Month – Play

The wellness word of the month for October is PLAY! Ms. Paige, our school social worker, will be teaching lessons in each classroom about the importance of play and the skills we learn through play that are useful to our everyday lives! Here is some additional information about how play supports development:

  • Boosts Learning: Through play, children develop problem-solving skills and creativity as they experiment and explore their surroundings.
  • Builds Social Skills: Playing with others helps children learn to share, cooperate, and communicate effectively, strengthening their social abilities.
  • Supports Emotional Health: Play allows kids to express and manage their feelings, fostering emotional resilience and well-being.
  • Enhances Physical Fitness: Active play improves motor skills, coordination, and overall health, helping your child stay fit and strong.

Encouraging play is a key part of supporting your child’s overall development. Ms. Paige encourages families to find ways to play together this month!
