Mike- Proficiency goal suggestion- 65% of students will be proficient or highly proficient.

Audrey- asked if we could add the words “towards proficiency” in our current draft goal.

SCC decided to keep the goal as is.

Academic Goal 2- ELA Vocabulary-

Dale requested to strike the word “measureable” from the goal.  He was unsure of what the baseline was. Discussion around proficiency vs growth.  Academic vocabulary varies by curriculum purchased and content.  Deidre stated that the desire was to bring teachers in alignment through the school to increase academic achievement throughout the school.  Mike was concerned that the vocabulary emphasis was a vehicle but not the destination.  It was discussed that vocabulary and comprehension are an integral component of increasing reading fluency.

School Climate Goal- briefly presented because it is not necessary for SCC to vote on the goal.  Deidre presented the Mustangs RIDE initiative.  Council was pleased with the direction.
