1. Agenda Item: Mike 3:55PM
1. Introduction of Debbie Hansen – Math Interventionist
Two math Tier II interventionists were approved last year. We currently have only one but are continuing interviews this week. (two current applicants)
-Ms. Debbie introduction- previously a first-grade teacher to raise children then decided to return to being involved with children. Last year she was approached by Principal Dan Ashbridge to be an interventionist. She is currently using the PALS Program as a foundation for intervention. She enjoys working with students and teachers. Ms. Rachael, our ML interventionist, is also assisting with math groups. Both Julie G. and Julie Z. have had their hours extended until we fill the vacant interventionist position. Audrey inquired about the students that were receiving the interventionist group vs in class group. It was clarified that student groups are fluid and classroom teachers are working with interventionists to determine the students that fit best in each group. Audrey inquired about grant money that may be available for additional interventionists.
2. Agenda Item: Deidre | SCC School Safety Plan and Digital Citizenship
Digital Citizenship discussion occurred in November. Deidre displayed the district website for safety plans. The SCC last year identified transportation safety as the focus area. Feedback from the SCC was that the website was appropriate and informative. The daycare buses have been directed to drop off and pick up in the northeast corner of the parking lot. This change allows students to use sidewalks to get inside of the building.
This year, the focus will remain transportation.
An additional concern is for physical safety including bullet proof glass and school guardian training.
Concern was brought up for the fire lane on the west side of the building that is being used as a pick up and drop off lane with parents parking there waiting for the building to open in the morning. PTA will be doing their “Red and White Ribbon Weeks” at the end of January and will work to educate parents and students on no parking in the fire lane.
Agenda Item: Mike | School Data follow-up 4:49 PM
The USBE Gateway site was reviewed and the school comparison tool displayed. Comparison schools are demographically similar.
After reviewing the data, Mike informed the committee that we have the ability to form a working group committee to dive into the data and identify potential areas where we can improve. Audrey stated that it would be helpful to review other schools and where they are spending their TSSP and Trustlands money and see how that impacted test scores. Deidre reminded the SCC that progress monitoring using Acadience occurs much more frequently than RISE and should be relied upon. TSSP money school climate based and Land Trust is academic. Audrey requested clarification on percentage of each money source being spent in each area.
Motion to form a committee to review academics and trends to better understand where funds are spent and where the best place to spend to better improve academics and to allocate future funds and suggestions. Motion: Mike/Matt Passes unanimously
