East Sandy Happenings – 11/9/25

🌟 A Week of Gratitude and Giving at East Sandy

We’re looking forward to a wonderful week at East Sandy filled with opportunities to give, honor, and serve! From our schoolwide Food Drive to our Veterans Day Flag Ceremony, our students will be learning the importance of gratitude, kindness, and community.

We have several exciting events happening this week, and we want everyone to feel prepared and part of the celebration. Please take a moment to review the information below for all the details.

Thank you for your continued support in helping our Mustangs make a difference — both here at school and in our community!

🇺🇸 Veterans Day Flag Ceremony

East Sandy will honor Veterans Day with a Flag Ceremony on Tuesday, November 11th, at 8:30 a.m. on the blacktop behind the school.

The ceremony, led by our Student Council Color Guard, will feature special musical performances by our students. The program will begin with a brief introduction, followed by the presentation of colors and the Pledge of Allegiance. Students will then share patriotic songs they’ve been learning in music class to honor and thank the veterans in our community for their service and sacrifice.

Students will be seated outside and will stand to sing during their performance. Parents are invited to stand behind the students for the presentation. Veterans will be seated at the front so that we may recognize and thank them for their service. If you would like to bring a chair, please feel free to do so.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside the school.

💙 Service Week Begins Monday!

East Sandy PTA is excited to kick off SERVICE WEEK with our East Sandy Elementary community next week -November 10th – 14th!  We’re partnering with the Utah Food Bank to collect non-perishable canned and packaged food donations that support Utah families in need.

School-wide, our goal is to DONATE 2,000 non-perishable food items! Together, we can make real change for Utah families experiencing food insecurity and reach our goal if every student donates 6 items or more. Food items that are most needed include:

  • peanut butter

  • macaroni & cheese

  • canned tuna

  • canned chicken

  • chili/soups

  • Pasta

  • canned fruits/vegetables

  • boxed meals

Students are welcome to bring donations to their classrooms where there will be a bin to place donations in. A big thank you to our Student Council who will collect donations from classrooms each morning and deliver them to be counted!

*Volunteers are needed to help count donations each morning at the school beginning at 8:30am. If you’d like to help please sign up as a volunteer here: https://signup.com/go/yhyCzDC

A few things to note about this week’s activities:

11/10  MONDAY – students will receive a BINGO CARD to take home that encourages the whole family to find fun and easy ways to serve their community.

11/11  TUESDAY – to celebrate Veterans Day students will carry out a flag ceremony and perform patriotic songs under the instruction of our music teacher Mrs. Landeen to honor service members in our community. We welcome family members and those who have served our nation to join us @ 8:30am behind the school for this special performance!

11/14  FRIDAY – 7:45-8:05am during Donuts with Grownups students and their families are invited to enjoy a treat and return their bingo cards signed by an adult for a prize.

The BIG AWARD for reaching our goal of collecting 2000 food items will take the form of a silly Inflatable Costume Relay with teachers during the Safe Walking Routes assembly Friday. Thank you, we are so grateful for our community & hope to pay it forward with this week of Service!
