This week, we’ve officially kicked off our home reading program with PTA called Beanstack. Beanstack utilizes competition, recognition, and proven gamification principles to motivate students to read and foster a lifelong love of reading. Whether your student chooses fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, or articles online, any and all reading counts in Beanstack! By tracking their daily reading, your student will develop healthy reading habits and become a more confident reader.
BEANSTACK BLASTOFF is our official launch of the program for East Sandy. From Oct 1, 2025, through Oct 10, 2025, have your student(s) log in to their account and start reading! It’s as simple as that! They will receive a custom-made East Sandy Bookmark. They can also join two other challenges at this time: Saddle Up to Beat Walbeck, a challenge to beat Ms. Walbeck’s reading minutes for the month, to receive a fun prize from Ms.Walbeck. The other challenge is the BeanStack Hallow-Read Challenge. All these challenges will accumulate minutes toward our school goal of 100,000 minutes read this year!
When students log their reading via Beanstack’s web or mobile app, they can also use a reading log sheet included with this packet – a new one will be provided each month.:
Earn digital badges and prizes as they reach milestones and compete in challenges
Compete on leaderboards and build streaks for reading every day
Track everything they read on their virtual bookshelf
Joining Beanstack is quick and easy:
At school: Your student can access Beanstack directly through their device using ClassLink
At home: Your student can download the Beanstack mobile app on the iOS App Store or Google Play Store, or through their ClassLink login
Attendance Update – Our goal this year is to reduce chronic absenteeism by 20%. Did you know that students with 10 or more absences in a school year are considered chronically absent? That’s the equivalent of about 94% attendance. This is why every single day matters when you’re a Mustang!
Below are our September attendance numbers by grade:
East Sandy (All) 92.77%
Kinder: 93.02% 3rd: 92.46%
1st: 90.99% 4th: 95.23% – WOW! 🙌🏼 Nice Job
2nd: 92.04% 5th: 93.27%
Please remember to review the upcoming event for East Sandy.
