Red Ribbon Week

East Sandy Elementary PTA
Red Ribbon Week
October 24th - 28th

Dear Students and Families,

Next week is Red Ribbon Week at East Sandy Elementary! Red Ribbon Week is meant to encourage conversation and action to keep kids drug and substance-free. Studies have shown that effective prevention strategies for youth should focus on 4 areas:

1. Family Bonding

2. Community Connection

3. Healthy Relationships

4. Personal Development

Join us next week as we participate in fun activities at school and home to strengthen these 4 areas. A schedule of the theme and activity for each day is included below.

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday
Family Bonding Community Connection Healthy Relationships Personal Development and Resiliency We're all on the DRUG FREE team together!
Wear Red Day Inside Out Day Crazy Sock Day Crazy Hair Day Jersey Day
We LOVE family time! Use the Dice and "D-Icebreaker" Game you get at school to have a fun family game night. Look outside of yourself and find a way to serve your community. Here are some ideas: Go on a walk and pick up any trash you see. Deliver thank you card to helpful members of your community (ex. Police Officers, Fireman, Mail Carriers) Walk in someone else's shoes(or socks). Make sure no one plays alone at recess! Join the PTA at recess for a fun dance party and treat. Don't Go Crazy - Talk about your emotions. Use the "Emotion Identification Card" you get at school to help you talk to your friends and family about your feelings. Sandy City K9 Unit assembly in school!
