May 13, 2026 – Minutes (Draft)

Date: May 13, 2026

Time: 3:45-4:45 PM

Welcome, Motion to call the meeting to order Meeting begins 3:57 P.M.

Agenda items

  • Approve April 1 meeting minutes 3:58 Motion to approve made by Alison seconded by Maria.  Passed unanimously.

Action Item 3:58 P.M.

  • Culminating DWSBA data (we will not have RISE or Acadience data yet)- Data shows dips in data in grades 2-4 for the winter assessment.  This year, only math was assessed.  In 2026-2027, both ELA and math will be assessed with the DWSBA.
  • Discussion on overall school data and comparison to the district was brought up.

4:09 P.M.

  • Timeline for elections for the open SCC positions for the upcoming 26-27 school Year. The state has indicated they would like to have a 50% of current SCC remain each year.  Declaration of Candidacy can be made electronically and can be sent out to parents in a Parent Square message.  The hope is to better inform parents and families on what SCC is responsible for and how they can become a member.  Information on length of term, eligibility, election process, and benefits are all available on this form.  Declaration of candidacy would be from July 27-August 5th with an election during the week of August 13th.  All elections would be completed online.  Candidates would provide a brief bio to be shared with the school community.  Discussion on available positions open, timeline of election cycle, questions to be filled out by candidates.  Mike expressed that the declaration window was too short.  Information will be shared via Parent Square and the school website.  Suggestion was made to lengthen the declaration period to include the first week of August which coincides with the opening of registration.  In the event there are not enough candidates, the SCC would appoint members (1 year term).  Deidre shared the proposed calendar meeting dates for 2026-2027.  Question was raised if we should be advertising on places other than Parent Square.  It was decided to have information directing parents to Parent Square for appropriate links.  Information will also be shared on the digital display and marquee.  August 13th-18th will be the open election window.

Open Discussion: 4:40 P.M.

Alison states that Acadience testing was not funded by the state, and we will need to rewrite our plan.  Deidre responded that we have not received guidance from CSD on how this may or may not affect our plans.  Deidre also said in the last legislative session, a bill was passed that directed school districts to retain students who are not making adequate progress by the end of 3rd grade.  Technology was also discussed, and how it is used in K-3.  These will be addressed in the coming months as we learn more about how CSD is implementing based on information from the state board of education.
