East Sandy Happenings – 4/12/24

Dear East Sandy families-
East Sandy had a great week back from spring break!  We started by honoring Ms. Hillstrom as this year’s East Sandy Teacher of the Year.  We also had a great performance from Ballet West.  They came in and taught students about the art of ballet as well as performed a short performance of Sleeping Beauty.

As we are moving into warmer weather, please come check our lost and found for any missing clothing.  We will be donating any articles of clothing that are not picked up.

Spread the Word: Next Friday is or Kindergarten orientation.  This is for parents of students who will be starting at East Sandy next year.  Please let neighbors or community members know if they have a child that is going into Kindergarten.

Also we have classic skate night next Thursday the 18th. 5:00-8:30pm.

Feel free to also schedule a time with me to discuss any concerns or give me feedback for East Sandy.
My email is: daniel.ashbridge@canyonsdistrict.org or call me at 801-826-8428.

Thank you for all of your support!

Our STEM films are finished. YAY!  5 movies have been chosen and submitted to the Canyons District Film Festival from all 18 films that were completed. To be chosen, the movies had to follow the assignment given in STEM class. They had to include information on their animal, presented in a clear way, in about one minute. They had to have edited their film, added credits, and engaged the audience in a fun/creative way.

East Sandy’s Wellness Word of the Month for April is CREATIVITY! Creativity means using your imagination to come up with new ideas. Being creative helps us solve problems, express ourselves, and have fun!  We can boost our creativity by doing things like reading, listening to music, trying new things, and spending time outside.

Digital Citizenship

When everything claims to be educational, it can be difficult to determine which media content is appropriate for your kids. We know that reviewing everything on your own can be a very time-consuming and frustrating process. Common Sense Media publishes reviews on movies, TV shows, books, games, and apps to help families make educated decisions on content curation. They even have a Star Wars Age-by-Age guideLinks to an external site. to help you introduce your favorite characters in an age-appropriate manner. Families can access 3 free reviews monthly without creating an account. Consider including your children in the decision-making process and let them pitch why they feel the movie, show, game, or app is a good use of their time.
PTA HAPPENINGS: Please support our school and join the PTA.

The Mustang Spirit Week is coming up April 22-26th, with the Showcase & Art Show on the evening of the 23rd. PTA is acting as the supporting crew this year, and letting the school & teachers take the lead for what they hope to showcase from this school year’s hard work! We hope you use it as a time to brag about how amazing you all are with our students! If you have any ideas that you need extra hands executing, please reach out! I will be emailing Room Parents to give them a heads up about helping as well, so we can make this a fun community event! PTA will plan on having hallway decorations & have popcorn for a snack that evening as well!Thank you,
East Sandy PTA
