Dear East Sandy families-
We had a great week with Halloween! Thank you for all of your support with costumes and the parade. Special thanks to the PTA. All students were given the option of having a doughnut.
I want to take a moment to thank you for your efforts in having your child come to school consistently.
School attendance COUNTS! Every absence from school interferes with your child’s opportunity to learn. There is a growing body of research showing that Chronic Absenteeism, usually defined by researchers as mission 10% or more of the school year (including excused and unexcused absences), has a significant negative effect on student achievement and may put a student at academic risk.
The goal for East Sandy Elementary is that students miss no more than 5% of the school year, in an effort to help every student be successful now and in the future.

Afternoon Pickup Reminder
Please use the pickup lane or the parking lot at the end of the day only. Do not park on 865 E. to pick up your child or have them cross the road to get to your car. We want to make sure that all students are safe.
November Wellness Word is Compassion (see flyer)
East Sandy’s Wellness Word of the Month for November is COMPASSION! Compassion means caring about others, treating others with kindness, and helping others who are in need. Compassion is empathy in action! Compassion might also look like friendship, teamwork, or love! Throughout this month, Ms. Andrea, our School Social Worker, will be visiting every class at East Sandy to read ” A Little Spot of Sadness”. She will also be visiting each class to teach a lesson about Compassion. Classroom teachers will be discussing and exploring Compassion during Morning Meetings throughout the month?

The November PTA Meeting is next week, Tuesday Nov 7th 9:30-10:30am at the school! We’d love to see you there!
Halloween was a success and we hope all your students had a fun, memorable time with the parade & the classroom parties. Thank you to the Volunteers who showed up to make it happen!
Reflections Ice Cream & Award party is next week, Friday Nov 10th for those students who entered. An invitation will be coming home with those students soon!

There are opportunities to be an emergency sub @ $125 per day at East Sandy, regular substitute @ $150 per day, and licensed substitute at $183 per day. We would love to have you join our team! I would include the following information: Age – You must be at least 14 years old Hours – 2 hours (time can vary per school) Pay – $11.45/hr.
