Welcome Back to School!

We are looking forward to building one cohesive community together.  If you are already reading this message on our website, you probably know more about our school than the average person.  This is the place to stay informed.

As always, we want everyone to feel welcome coming to school.  If you have any questions or concerns, please address them with your classroom teacher first.  If you need further assistance, I am always willing to help.  I have an open door policy. Parents with concerns or suggestions can call, write a note, or send me an email.   I am committed to providing a timely response. Drop by whenever you like. If I am not available, you can make an appointment.

Student Registration – Online registration opens August 4; our front office is open to assist you with registration beginning July 29, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.  ALL Canyons School District families must complete the online registration every school year.  Fall registration confirms to the school that you still plan to attend, and offers families the opportunity to update contact information, emergency contacts, etc.  If you have questions about registration, please call our front office at 801-826-8425.

Wondering Who Your Teacher Is? Starting Wednesday, August 12, 2015 parents may log into Skyward Family Access and see who has been assigned to be your student’s teacher for the 2015-2016 school year.

School-wide Theme

This year our theme is “Team Mustangs and TEAMWORK”.  At East Sandy we help our students build teaming skills by building strong relationships of respect, good will, and collaboration with our students, staff, parents, and community as we work together for academic excellence and citizenship.

NEW – Brain Boosters

Last year our CSD school board approved time for teachers to collaborate and plan during the school day.  This provides a built in weekly time to focus on effective planning, collaboration with their colleagues, professional development and data analysis.

During Brain Booster times, students will participate in four Brain Booster rotations.  We have hired Instructional Technicians to teach these rotations that will focus on the following curriculum areas.

  • Visual Arts
  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)
  • Media
  • PE/ Playworks  (learn about Playworks at http://www.playworks.org )

School-Wide Behavior Plan

We will continue to implement our Positive Behavior Supports for all students and adults at East Sandy.  Our school-wide expectations are that all East Sandy Mustangs are Safe, Kind, Respectful and Responsible in all that they say and do.  Students earn Mustang tickets when they are following our school rules.  Every Friday we draw two tickets from each classroom for a Mustang prize.

East Sandy Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

We are fortunate at East Sandy to have an active and supportive PTA.  We encourage you to join the East Sandy PTA. We our proud that each year 100% of our faculty joins the PTA. We are hoping for 100% PTA membership from our parent population. Please watch for PTA membership information to join. Our PTA President this year is Mrs. Courtney Monsen. We would love to have more parents join the board and our committees.

I feel privileged to work with our highly qualified teachers, our dedicated staff, and supportive families. I look forward to seeing you at our school events throughout the school year.  Please contact me if you have any questions at This email address is being protected from spambots.
